Terms & Conditions

How ordering, collection, payment, refunds and courier delivery work at Block and Blade Butchery. Please read these before placing an order.

Last updated: 29 August 2026

1. Who we are

Block and Blade Butchery is a Muslim-owned halaal butchery trading from Nico Diederich Street, Secunda, 2302 (next to Moove Gym), Mpumalanga, South Africa.

You can reach us by phone or WhatsApp on 065 660 5839, or on Facebook Messenger — search for Block and Blade Butchery.

2. Our products

Block and Blade is a Muslim-owned butchery, and everything we sell is halaal. Our beef, lamb and chicken come from halaal abattoirs. No pork or pork products enter our premises, and halaal stock is never mixed with anything non-halaal.

Fresh meat is cut, trimmed and packed by hand to your order. Dried products (biltong, droëwors) and spices are prepared and packed in-house.

Pricing and weight

Fresh meat is sold by weight. Pack sizes shown on our website are approximate and marked with a "±" (for example ±500 g). Because meat is cut by hand, the exact packed weight will differ slightly from the size shown.

The price displayed when you order is an estimate based on the indicated weight and the per-kilogram rate. Your final price is calculated from the actual packed weight and confirmed before payment. You only ever pay for the weight you receive.

Prices are in South African Rand and may change without notice. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors before an order is confirmed.

3. Ordering and collection

Fresh meat is collection only from our Secunda shop. We do not deliver fresh meat.

When you place an order you choose a collection window. We cut your order fresh and hold it for collection during that window. If you cannot make your slot, please let us know as early as possible so the meat is not cut unnecessarily.

Orders not collected by the end of the trading day of your chosen slot, and where we have not been able to reach you, may be released for sale. Perishable stock cannot be held indefinitely.

4. Payment

Payment is made by cash or card on collection in-store. We are working on adding online card and EFT payment, and will update this page once it is available.

Where online payment is used, we do not see, handle or store your card details — payments are processed by the payment provider.

5. Pre-orders and deposits

Some items — whole lamb, bulk packs, Eid and celebration packs, and custom cutting instructions — are sold as pre-orders. These require a deposit to secure the order, as we buy and prepare stock specifically for you.

Cancelling a pre-order

If we are unable to fulfil a pre-order for any reason on our side, your deposit is refunded in full.

6. Refunds, returns and complaints

Fresh meat

Fresh meat is a perishable food product cut to your specification. For food safety and hygiene reasons, it cannot be returned or exchanged once it has left our premises simply because you changed your mind.

If something is wrong on our side, we will fix it. If your order is incorrect, short-weighted, or the product is not of acceptable quality, contact us on the same day of collection with your order number and a photograph where possible. We will replace the item or refund it.

Dried products and spices

For hygiene reasons, opened dried meat and spice products cannot be returned. Unopened items in their original packaging may be returned within 7 days of receipt.

If a dried product arrives mouldy, damaged, incorrect, or noticeably under the weight ordered, notify us within 24 hours of delivery with photographs. We will replace it or refund it.

How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are paid back by the same method used to pay. Card and online payments are reversed to the original card or account and may take several working days to reflect, depending on your bank.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

7. Courier delivery — biltong, droëwors and spices

We courier shelf-stable products nationwide within South Africa: biltong, droëwors and our house spices. Fresh meat is never couriered and remains collection-only.

How it gets to you

You choose at checkout:

Dispatch days

We dispatch courier orders on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only. This is deliberate — it keeps parcels out of depots over weekends, so your biltong is not sitting in transit for three days. Orders placed after 12:00 on a Thursday are dispatched the following Tuesday.

Delivery times

From dispatch, expect roughly:

These are courier estimates, not guarantees. Delivery timeframes exclude weekends and public holidays.

Packaging

You choose your packaging at checkout:

Store biltong in a cool, dry place. In humid conditions keep it refrigerated. It can be frozen for up to three months.

Addresses, lockers and failed deliveries

Please check your delivery address and contact number carefully. We cannot be held responsible for parcels delayed or lost because of an incorrect or incomplete address supplied at checkout. Re-delivery to a corrected address is charged again at the standard rate.

Couriers may require a signature on door-to-door delivery. If nobody is available, the courier will attempt redelivery or hold the parcel at a depot according to their own policy.

For locker deliveries, PUDO sends a collection code to the cell number given at checkout — please make sure it is correct, as we cannot retrieve a parcel once it is in a locker. Lockers hold a parcel for a limited period set by PUDO, after which it is returned. A parcel returned because it was not collected in time can be resent at the standard rate.

Delays and damage in transit

Once a parcel is handed to the courier it is in their control. We are not liable for loss, theft, damage or delay caused by the courier, nor for spoilage resulting from courier delays outside our control. Where a parcel is lost or damaged in transit we will assist you in lodging a claim with the courier and will replace the goods where the claim is upheld.

If your order has not arrived within 5 business days of the expected delivery window, contact us and we will follow it up.

8. Stock availability

All orders are subject to stock availability. Meat is a natural product and supply varies. If we cannot fulfil part of your order we will contact you to arrange a substitute, a partial order, or a refund of the affected items.

9. Your information

We collect only what we need to process your order — your name, contact number and, for courier orders, your delivery address. We use it to prepare, confirm and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.

We do not sell your information or share it with anyone other than our courier partner, and only then for the purpose of delivering your parcel. You may ask us to correct or delete your details at any time.

Where you take part in our loyalty programme, we store your cell number against your points balance for the purpose of running that programme.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you place your order is the version that applies to that order.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
